These verses are for people facing cancer — for the waiting rooms, the treatment months, and the nights when hope has to be carried for you. None of them promise an easy road, which is exactly why they help: they promise presence, peace that does not depend on news, and a God who walks through deep water rather than around it. "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Five promises in one verse for when fear will not lift — presence, strength, help, and holding.
"When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."
Through deep water and fire alike — not around them, but through, with Him beside you.
"For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after."
God's own promise of restored health and healed wounds — He has not forgotten you.
"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness: most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
Weakness is where Christ's strength shows up best — His grace is enough for this.
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
A peace unlike anything the world offers — given by Jesus Himself for troubled, fearful hearts.
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
For the darkest valleys — grief, diagnosis, loss. Fear eases because He walks through it with you.
"The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles."
Crying out is not weakness — it is the trigger for God hearing and delivering.
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."
When trouble is already here — God as refuge you can run to right now.
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Nothing — not death, not the present crisis, not the feared future — can separate you from His love.
"For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."
Tonight's tears have an expiry date — morning joy is coming.
"What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."
Nine words for scared moments — when afraid, choose trust. Simple enough for any child.
